Earth Observation Imagery

GAF Earth Observation ImageryHigh resolution natural-colour satellite images are well-known products, which provide a clear impression of your area of interest, as seen from a bird’s-eye-view. The full spectrum of Earth Observation Imagery is acquired by a large number of sensors and cameras, which are mounted on various air-borne and space-borne systems. Compared to aerial surveys, satellite remote sensing can provide a lot of additional benefits to your applications. One of the most important advantages are the high repetition rates also for small areas of interest and the reliable, and uncritical access to conflict areas and remote regions of the world. In addition, multi-sensor coverage can provide improved analysis capacity, by combining e.g. multi- and hyperspectral data with radar multi-band and polarimetric information.

GAF, in cooperation with its wholly-owned subsidiary Euromap, is the only German sales representative with distribution contracts for all of the most relevant civilian EO satellite system operators and ground stations.

Images from optical and radar systems can be made available for any region of the world - from local to continental scales. Ground resolutions up to 50cm are available from VHR systems with very high positional accuracy (e.g. Ikonos, Quickbird, WorldView), which is equivalent to map scales better than 1:5,000. Earth Observation Imagery may be ordered with professional licensing options from existing archives or as new acquisition tasks for your specific area-of-interest. Alternatively, you can take advantage of existing seamless image mosaics which GAF created from large amounts of archive scenes - ready to be used in your projects. Following the links below, you can find more information on selected major Earth Observation Imagery sources, as available from GAF as a regular service.

Future operational systems to be launched will be added to this section, when data can be made available via GAF. If you are interested in EO satellite data from other sources (e.g. russian data), from scientific systems (e.g. ASTER data) or from the public domain, please ask our customer service for available assistance.
If you want to place an order or if you are not sure, which combination of data sources will be perfect to match your application’s requirements, we also invite you to contact our experienced customer service to receive appropriate assistance. Services provided include recommendation of the most appropriate data for a specific application, data searches in image archives, programming requests for new acquisitions, as well as ordering and delivering the digital data. All images acquired via GAF may be used directly by the user or may be input to further processing by GAF, as described in the Solutions and Services sections.
