GeoEye-1
GeoEye successfully launched its GeoEye-1 satellite on the Boeing Delta II launch vehicle on September 6th, 2008.
The satellite collects images at 0.5-meter panchromatic (black & white) and 1.65-meter multispectral resolution with a high geolocation accuracy. The satellite collects up to 700,000 square kilometres of panchromatic (and up to 350,000 square kilometres of pan-sharpened multispectral) imagery per day. This capability is ideal for large scale mapping projects. GeoEye-1 will be able to revisit any point on Earth once every three days or sooner.
The data will contribute to mapping, agricultural and urban planning, weather research and military surveillance.
