GAF has grown from a small remote sensing firm into a well reputed geo-information service provider. However, the company still follows its successful strategy of having a flat decision-making hierarchy, lean internal management structures and direct communication channels.

Incorporation

GAF AG is constituted as a stock company registered under HRB 140509 at the commercial register of the Munich District Court. Under German stock corporation law, operative management and supervisory functions are strictly separated.

A Telespazio Group Company

The company's shares are not publicly traded and are held by e-GEOS S.p.A., Matera a company 80 % controlled by Telespazio S.p.A. with 20 % participation by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). Telespazio is a joint Finmeccanica S.p.A. (67 %) and Thales S.A. (33 %) company that specialises in delivering services in the satellite technology domains (communications, navigation, earth observation).
Finmeccanica and Thales are both European corporate groups listed on stock markets and offer high-technology products and services on a global basis. Taken together, the groups have a combined workforce of >135,000 and revenues in excess of 30 billion € (2009 figures). In Germany alone the groups employ more than 3,000 staff in their various companies.
