GAF, together with the Department of Geology at the University of Witwatersrand, identified an impact structure in Brazil on Landsat MSS satellite imagery in the year 2000.
The Cadastre Division of the Mineral Resources Authority of Mongolia (MRAM) has launched a new web portal in order to increase transparency in the Mongolian mining sector and offer enhanced services to the public and specific functionalities to investors (registered users) via the Internet.
GAF and Lufthansa Systems have intensified their cooperation with regard to the provision of current and very high resolution remote sensing data from various data collection systems.
Lufthansa Systems uses the satellite data for its Lido/AMDB (Airport Mapping Data Base) product. This aeronautical database contains geometrical data as well as detailed information about airports (runways, taxiways, airport buildings, etc.). The data is used in the cockpit of commercial aircraft to display the position of the aircraft at the airport during taxiing. The geo-referenced satellite images from GAF can also be used in the future to generate even more accurate airport data.

bavAIRia and partners start the obsAIRveYourBusiness project. obsAIRveYourBusiness will provide a customer-specific service for cities and regions by offering high-resolution air quality forecasts.
The air quality service will deliver near real-time information via mobile apps and builds on experiences from the obsAIRve project and the European Copernicus programme. The project is led by bavAIRia and involves the partners GAF AG, DLR and Regio Augsburg Wirtschaft from Germany, Airparif from France, and the research networks CORILA and INNOVA from Italy.

A European consortium headed by GAF AG has been contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to implement the latest element of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service's Local Component: the Riparian Zones Project.
The project team mainly consists of four experienced European service providers: GAF AG (Germany), INDRA (Spain), Metria (Sweden) and GeoVille (Austria). The consortium has signed a 3.7 million € framework service contract with the EEA and conducted a successful project kick-off in Copenhagen in July 2014.
Providers of logistics services face a lot of challenges: fierce competition, relentless cost pressures, ever-increasing energy prices, stringent emissions legislation and the requirement for accurately-measured carbon footprints.
This can put a lot of strain on such organisations, so in order to provide assistance in this respect the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB Schenker is developing a transport and logistics solution together with T-Systems and GAF AG. This delivers real-time data based on satellite navigation, earth observation and satellite communication technologies.
The project is funded jointly by the European Space Agency‘s Integrated Application Promotion (IAP) programme (http://artes-apps.esa.int/) and Deutsche Telekom.
Following the signing of a merger agreement on 20th February 2014, Euromap GmbH and GAF AG have officially started the process of merging. Once this tie-up has been completed, Euromap GmbH, which has more than 20 employees, will continue to operate as a branch of GAF registered in Neustrelitz, Germany.
GAF has developed a new innovative and cost-effective approach for deriving bathymetry from space. With this method, GAF can generate bathymetric maps covering large areas by simultaneously using differential spectral attenuation and stereo-information from satellite imagery. This method has recently been used to successfully map a large area in the Caspian Sea. The results provide the company RWE Dea Azerbaijan with valuable information suitable for hydrocarbon exploration and for the performance of seismic surveys.
