GAF AG, the exclusive supplier of optical Indian Remote Sensing data in Europe, has signed an agreement with ESA concerning the provision of IRS data for the Copernicus Data Warehouse. The agreement will run until the end of 2020.
GAF Completed Extensive Fieldworks Campaign in Darfur, Sudan
GAF AG has successfully accomplished the extensive fieldwork programme in its Darfur Natural Resources Mapping and Database Project carried out for the Darfur Land Commission (DLC). It is the so far largest comprehensive and most up-to-date inventory and capacity-building project on the natural resources and ecological potential of this 500,000 sqkm Saharian/Sahelian region.

GAF AG donates to the organization Doctors Without Borders for the fight against Ebola.
The traditionally performed GAF fund-raising during the Christmas time included the donation generosity of the employees this year as well. Besides a company contribution, the really remarkable portion was provided from the employee side.
GAF is very pleased that after the fund raising campaign several thousand Euros could be donated to the organization Doctors Without Borders (http://www.aerzte-ohne-grenzen.de/diseases/ebola). With this donation we hope to be able to support the unprecedented work of the organization to fight against Ebola and other epidemics.

GAF to implement its electronic mining cadastre framework eMC+ in the Republic of Tajikistan
GAF is pleased to announce the acquisition of a contract to design and implement a new mining title-cadastre and registry system for the Republic of Tajikistan. The client and beneficiary is the Department of Geology under the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management.
The overall project objective is improving governance in the mining sector by establishing a transparent system for granting and managing mineral permits. The efficient and reliable administration of such titles is considered to be a key factor in increasing investment and growth in the Republic of Tajikistan's mining sector.

GAF's mining cadastre system and the provision of its associated source code ensures sustainability beyond the implementation project's lifetime and provides well-defined total cost of ownership.
eMC+ is GAF's framework for providing mining cadastre authorities worldwide with a complete package of products and services. Using the eMC+ framework as a basis, GAF can create tailor-made and maintenance-friendly solutions for each individual client - being web-based it works in an intranet setting as well as over the Internet. eMC+ increases institutional capacity and efficiency by providing a comprehensive mineral tenure management solution.
Impact crater in Brazil: first identified on satellite imagery by GAF and partner - now officially confirmed
GAF, together with the Department of Geology at the University of Witwatersrand, identified an impact structure in Brazil on Landsat MSS satellite imagery in the year 2000.
New web-based mining cadastre information services in Mongolia
The Cadastre Division of the Mineral Resources Authority of Mongolia (MRAM) has launched a new web portal in order to increase transparency in the Mongolian mining sector and offer enhanced services to the public and specific functionalities to investors (registered users) via the Internet.
GAF supplies Lufthansa Systems with VHR satellite imagery
GAF and Lufthansa Systems have intensified their cooperation with regard to the provision of current and very high resolution remote sensing data from various data collection systems.
Lufthansa Systems uses the satellite data for its Lido/AMDB (Airport Mapping Data Base) product. This aeronautical database contains geometrical data as well as detailed information about airports (runways, taxiways, airport buildings, etc.). The data is used in the cockpit of commercial aircraft to display the position of the aircraft at the airport during taxiing. The geo-referenced satellite images from GAF can also be used in the future to generate even more accurate airport data.

Air Quality Monitoring for Cities
bavAIRia and partners start the obsAIRveYourBusiness project. obsAIRveYourBusiness will provide a customer-specific service for cities and regions by offering high-resolution air quality forecasts.
The air quality service will deliver near real-time information via mobile apps and builds on experiences from the obsAIRve project and the European Copernicus programme. The project is led by bavAIRia and involves the partners GAF AG, DLR and Regio Augsburg Wirtschaft from Germany, Airparif from France, and the research networks CORILA and INNOVA from Italy.
