Bathymetry from space: GAF’s innovative stereo approach

GAF has developed a new innovative and cost-effective approach for deriving bathymetry from space. With this method, GAF can generate bathymetric maps covering large areas by simultaneously using differential spectral attenuation and stereo-information from satellite imagery. This method has recently been used to successfully map a large area in the Caspian Sea. The results provide the company RWE Dea Azerbaijan with valuable information suitable for hydrocarbon exploration and for the performance of seismic surveys.

Representatives of the company will be on hand at the booth of the Nigerian Ministry of Mines and Steel Development - MMSD - (booth #2705) in order to provide information and details about the major developments in Nigerian mining activities in recent years and to present the Computerised Mining Cadastre, a mineral titles management solution established at the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (MCO).

European Space Imaging and partner GAF AG win major European Commission contract

German partnership to be the sole provider of VHR satellite data and services to support checks within the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)


European Space Imaging announced today that the company has signed a multi-year framework supply contract with the European Commission for the provision of very high-resolution satellite data and associated services in support of the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

The framework agreement between the European Commission's Joint Research Centre and European Space Imaging has an estimated total value of 22.3 million EUR over a period of up to 4 years. The contract will be carried out by European Space Imaging and its technology partner GAF AG with the support of the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Copernicus Air Quality Monitoring for Europe

GAF AG and partners successfully complete the obsAIRve project and continue provision of resulting services. GAF AG, together with a group of European partners, has successfully implemented a project to provide satellite and in-situ based air quality information services for the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry.

The air quality monitoring services deliver near-real-time information through a website and mobile apps and build on previous experience gained in the European Copernicus programme. The project is led by GAF and involves the partners DLR, T-Systems International and the Environment Agency Austria.
