Intergeo 2014 - Get Informed Directly!

Visit GAF AG and Partners at Intergeo 2014 in Berlin!

"GET INFORMED DIRECTLY" is the slogan being used this year on GAF's booth at the Intergeo 2014 trade fair being held in Berlin.

Together with our partners e-GEOS, European Space Imaging, BlackBridge and the Verband Runder Tisch GIS (RTG - GIS Round Table Association), the booth (no. A3.054 hall 3.1) will form again a central point of interest for satellite data, geo-information and associated services.

What is new? This year we have a big presentation area integrated on our booth.

We and our partners would like to inform you directly about technical innovations / trends and developments. Our speakers and colleagues are looking forward to lively discussions on application-related questions with you!

GAF AG and partners contracted to map European Riparian Zones

A European consortium headed by GAF AG has been contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to implement the latest element of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service's Local Component: the Riparian Zones Project.

The project team mainly consists of four experienced European service providers: GAF AG (Germany), INDRA (Spain), Metria (Sweden) and GeoVille (Austria). The consortium has signed a 3.7 million € framework service contract with the EEA and conducted a successful project kick-off in Copenhagen in July 2014.

Putting the Space into Logistics

Providers of logistics services face a lot of challenges: fierce competition, relentless cost pressures, ever-increasing energy prices, stringent emissions legislation and the requirement for accurately-measured carbon footprints.

This can put a lot of strain on such organisations, so in order to provide assistance in this respect the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary DB Schenker is developing a transport and logistics solution together with T-Systems and GAF AG. This delivers real-time data based on satellite navigation, earth observation and satellite communication technologies.
The project is funded jointly by the European Space Agency‘s Integrated Application Promotion (IAP) programme (http://artes-apps.esa.int/) and Deutsche Telekom.

Bathymetry from space: GAF’s innovative stereo approach

GAF has developed a new innovative and cost-effective approach for deriving bathymetry from space. With this method, GAF can generate bathymetric maps covering large areas by simultaneously using differential spectral attenuation and stereo-information from satellite imagery. This method has recently been used to successfully map a large area in the Caspian Sea. The results provide the company RWE Dea Azerbaijan with valuable information suitable for hydrocarbon exploration and for the performance of seismic surveys.

Copernicus Air Quality Monitoring for Europe

GAF AG and partners successfully complete the obsAIRve project and continue provision of resulting services. GAF AG, together with a group of European partners, has successfully implemented a project to provide satellite and in-situ based air quality information services for the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry.
