Project Manager – EO-based Agricultural Monitoring

With an international and interdisciplinary team of experts, GAF sets standards for geospatial consulting, cloud- and AI-based data analysis, and satellite-based monitoring of the environment and natural resources in Europe and around the globe.

To further strengthen our team for EO-based agricultural monitoring, yield assessment and soil moisture mapping at our headquarters in Munich, we are now looking for an enthusiastic

Project Manager - EO-based Agricultural Monitoring

We are looking for a skilled Project Manager with experiences in the field of EO-based agricultural area monitoring, sustainable agriculture, crop and grassland mapping, yield assessment and/or soil moisture mapping to level up their career in an international organisation.
You will support us in projects in the frame of the integrated administration and control system (IACS) as well as GAF AG’s “AgroSuite” portfolio in the area of agricultural monitoring services, to support the implementation of the European Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the management of production risks through agricultural insurance, and the support of sustainable agricultural cultivation techniques and production processes in a national, European and global context.

Your tasks:

  • Implementation and adaptation of the technological solutions developed by the company
  • Coordination of project activities in terms of content and organisation
  • Internal and external project and personnel resource management
  • Customer communication, requirements analyses and proposal writing/ management
  • Reporting, document preparation and presentation
  • Further development of the company’s agricultural portfolio
  • Support of Business Development activities in the agricultural market on national, European and international level
  • Coordination and knowledge management for professional capacity building of the team

Your profile:

  • Academic background in geosciences or agricultural sciences, with a focus on in remote sensing and geoinformation
  • Sound methodological and application-oriented knowledge in the field of satellite image processing and geospatial modelling, preferably with a thematic focus on the agricultural sector
  • Excellent command of English (C2 level CEFR), both written and spoken
  • Extensive project management experience, including the development of technical concepts and methodologies, budget planning, and participation in public tenders
  • Several years of professional project experience in the field of earth observation, preferably in the agricultural domain
  • A structured and efficient working style, with the ability to prioritize effectively and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate efficiently across international teams and with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent skills in communication, presentation, collaboration, and scientific writing

Desirable knowledge:

  • Previous experience in the financial management of projects and the tracking of project resources is considered an asset
  • Market Knowledge of the German national, European and international agricultural market in respect to Geoinformation and Remote Sensing is considered a strong asset.
  • Working knowledge of German is beneficial
  • Familiarity with Cloud Technologies or Big Data platforms is a strong plus, particularly in data-intensive environments

Further information:

Full-time, 40 hours per week and starting as at the earliest possible date.
Initially limited to 2 years, with a subsequent option for a permanent contract.
