A different kind of “geothermal energy” – GAF’s charitable donation helps create more social warmth on Munich’s streets

In today’s difficult times, it is more important than ever to support those people who do not have the possibility to withdraw to within their own four walls to protect themselves from the cold outside. This is the reason why our charitable donation, collected before Christmas, goes to the association Münchner Kältebus e.V. this year.

Münchner Kältebus e.V. (Munich “bus against cold weather” initiative) is an organisation that has been providing urgent help to homeless people in Munich since 2012 – without any conditions or obligations being placed on the recipients of the help. When the temperature outside sinks below zero, the Kältebus volunteers drive to places where homeless people are known to congregate. They distribute hot food, drinks, biscuits, chocolate, tinned food and also hygiene items, sleeping bags and vouchers for municipal indoor swimming pools. The costs are covered by donations of money and food.

For its annual charitable donation, GAF provided a base sum and then also doubled each euro donated by employees and added this to the base sum. In total, an impressive 5,670 euros could therefore be given to the association – to help provide a little more social warmth on the streets of Munich.
