Expert in Remote Sensing / GIS

With an international and interdisciplinary team of experts, GAF AG sets standards for geospatial consulting, cloud- and AI-based data analysis, and satellite-based monitoring of the environment and natural resources in Europe and around the globe.

To strengthen our Service-on-Demand team, particularly in the area of operational crisis response in disaster situations and the generation of customized geodata products, we are looking for a motivated

Expert in Remote Sensing / GIS - with a focus on operational production in the area of time-critical disaster response

Your tasks:

  • Regular on-call duty in 24/7 shift operation: Deployment in a rotating three-shift system to ensure continuous operational readiness
  • Coordination of the production team in crisis situations: Planning and control of operational processes within the framework of emergency and disaster relief
  • Processing of satellite images and vector data: Application of IP/GIS standard software (COTS) and internal tools for geodata analysis
  • Quality assurance: Review and optimisation of workflows and output products to ensure the highest standards
  • Documentation: Creation and maintenance of technical documentation on workflows and software solutions used
  • Training and knowledge transfer: Technical training and continuous further education of the production team
  • Participation in other Service-on-Demand projects

Requirements:

  • A university degree (B.Sc./B.Eng.) in geoinformatics, geography, surveying or similar, with a focus on remote sensing and GIS
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the following areas of application: Topographic and crisis-related mapping/monitoring in the context of a time-critical work environment
  • Very good basic knowledge of remote sensing and thematic analysis of satellite images
  • Very good knowledge of vector data processing and working with GIS databases
  • Willingness and motivation to work shifts on weekends and public holidays from time to time
  • Strong team spirit and the ability to communicate both internally and externally and to work in a complex project environment
  • Reliability, commitment and multi-tasking ability, especially under time-critical conditions
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills (C1 level according to CEFR)
  • Independent and results-oriented way of working

Further information:

Place of work is at the head office in Munich.
Full-time, 40 hours per week and starting as at the earliest possible date.
Initially limited to 2 years, with a subsequent option for a permanent contract.
