The GMES and Africa Programme aims to promote the sustainable management of natural, water, marine and coastal resources. Its specific objective is to improve African policymakers’ and planners’ capacities to design, implement, and monitor national, regional and continental policies. To this end, Earth Observation (EO) data and derived information are being employed to meet the sustainable resource management aims. The programme has a continental scope and involves a total of 12 consortia, consisting of more than 150 institutions from 44 countries throughout Africa.
