GAF becomes a member of the BDI initiative NewSpace

GAF AG, a renowned company in the area of satellite-based Earth observation applications and space, has become a member of the new BDI initiative NewSpace.

The Federation of German Industries (BDI) founded the NewSpace initiative to take into account the increasing importance of aerospace and the ever-increasing commercialisation in traditional economic sectors of applications relating to space technology.

The ‘space market of the future’ and applications developed as part of aerospace and satellite programmes provide great technological potential for developing and supporting solutions to current issues. This includes the most pressing challenges of our time, such as climate change, sustainability, circular economy, food security and the conservation of natural resources. GAF has been developing innovative services and applications for all these subject areas for a number of years.

The NewSpace initiative provides an excellent forum for all companies involved in the thematic area of new space, including start-ups and companies that have been active in the space sector for decades, as well as companies and industries that are only just discovering the advantages of using products and services developed based on Earth observation technologies. This new deliberately cross-sector network opens up the possibility of linking different industrial and economic sectors with one another.

Excellent examples of this were the side events organised by the BDI in February as part of the Munich Security Conference.
